I just started a full time job with the dept. of the Army as the school liaison for Ft. Belvoir and I frequent MVHS (last time I was there, I drove around the housing areas and was reminded of different memories! What a small world). I had been an at home mom for many years, although keeping up professional skills in various ways - and with three of us in college (I am currently in a masters program) it was time to step up the money! My second child is going to attend James Madison University in the fall (to join her older brother), and I have one child in HS. |

Occupation: Business Store Manager Website: outletstore@healthyback.c - om Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 4 What song from high school do you most want to hear at the reunion?: Brown eyed girl, Lucy in the Sky w/diamonds, Hey Jude just to name a few. From Lisa: I have had a very interesting but satisfying life. I have been married to the same man that I met right after High school... but of course like all marriages we have had a lot of ups and downs in the beginning. We even went through a rough patch and got divorced. But as life would have it, we must have been meant to be together so we worked on it and re-married again a few years later. Our kids (David, Jonathan, Nathan and Maggie) are of all ages. David is 28 married with 4 kids of his own. Jonathan is 21 married with 1 boy with another one the way (due in May). Nathan is only 10 and Maggie is just 19 months. She was our biggest surprise of all. We have grandchildren that are older than our youngest daughter, which is fun in it self... but very hard to explain to those who don't us. I lost my father 2 years ago in April and Maggie showed up a few months after that and she has been the biggest blessing to the whole family. Jr and I have been together a total of 29 years (boy that does sound like forever) and through it all we have been truly blessed with our kids and grandkids. I am presently the Business Manager of a local retail/specialty bed and back store and have been for the past 4 years and I love it. I work closely with each and every customer to make them feel better and help them find just the right merchandise for them. I have always been a people person and that makes having this type of job ideal for someone like me. Our Son, David received his degree in cooking from the Scottsdale Culinary Institute in AZ and is currently working for the Ritz Carlton in DC. Jonathan works for Fairfax County and both of them and their families live very close so we get to see them all every chance we get. This makes it nice since so many families move away and never get to see their kids and grandkids when they move out. August is just around the corner and I really can't believe that it has been 30 years since graduation. Time does fly when you're "having fun". I can't wait to see everyone at the reunion! |

Occupation: Mom/Pianist/Technical Writer Website: www.techscribenow.com Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 3 What song from high school do you most want to hear at the reunion?: We May Never Pass This Way Again (Seals & Crofts) From Chela: Hey, everybody! I, too, am shocked that 30 years has gone by already! It feels like it was only yesterday we were graduating ... I won't be at the reunion, but it sounds like a good time will be had by all. The Web site is great, and I can hardly wait to see the pix from the party! I've been having fun reading up on people – we’re a good bunch! About 20 years ago, I changed my name from “Sheryl Ann Newton” to “Chela Newton” (I always preferred my nickname anyway). I've been married for 10 years and have three boys: 9-year-old graphic artist and Taekwondo enthusiast, Tyrel (just got his Red Belt!); and 3-year-old twins, Lars and Derik (both into Legos and music like their big brother, and in general keeping me on my toes enough that I don't need a gym membership). My husband, Scott, is a Senior software engineer with Qualcomm who loves to go backpacking in the Eastern Sierras. He also loves to build things (furniture and whatever we need around the house) and has been collecting LGB garden trains for about 20 years. The biggest project to date has been a two-track (soon to be four) outdoor layout in the backyard. Needless to say, our boys have a lot of fun with their dad. Scott hopes one day to build us a house on acreage we own south of My degree was in Music (from the Being a mom has been the hardest, most fulfilling job I’ve ever had! And being an older mom has been both an advantage and a challenge: I accomplished a lot (but not all) of my goals before kids. And it’s a good thing I still have a lot of energy (see above comment about not needing a gym membership). Waiting 20 years to get married and then having kids also means I’m on my third childhood – pretty fun! |

Birthday: July 19, 1960
Occupation: Wife, mom, homemaker Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 2 What song from high school do you most want to hear at the reunion?: I won't be at the reunion, but songs that bring back memories for me include anything by Lionel Richie and/or the Commodores, Earth, Wind and Fire, John Denver and Elton John. From Cindy: Hi, Everyone! I'm technically not an alumnus since I didn't graduate from MVHS, but I did go to school with many of you between 2nd and 9th grades. Following our freshman year at Mt. Vernon, my family moved to Brunswick, GA, where I graduated from high school and began a career as a secretary with the Federal Government. In 1983, my sister and I returned to Northern Virginia and shared an apartment in Arlington. In 1989, I married my wonderful husband, Rick, and we moved to Manassas, VA. In 1991, our first child, Dennis, was born, and I became a stay-at-home mom. Kelly came along in 1993. Dennis will be a junior and Kelly a sophomore at Osbourn Park High School this school year. Rick has been in food service all of his career, in several different capacities, but primarily in business dining, with companies such as Aramark and Compass Group. He is currently employed as a District Manager for Guest Services. It's been great reading people's "bio's" on this website. I have thought about so many of you over the years and wondered, "What ever happened to 'so and so'?" Nice to have "caught up" with some of you! I'd love to hear from any of you who might remember me! |
